Forum Spam.

December 23, 2006 · 5 Comments

Does anybody know how to eliminate forum spam? I, every-so-often, participate in discussions on this forum. The only problem is that I am sick of the spam, so much so that I have stopped visiting.

Do spam-marketers actually believe that promotion of this nature on a music-blog will increase sales. I suppose they are targeting the sods who actually give a flying fuck about penis-enlargement (I wouldn’t need to, you see.) and plastic vaginas. I wonder how much product these guys move. In fact, I am going to do some research and get back to you on that one.

I am still trying to become a moderator for this forum so that something can be done about the backward management thereof, we’ll see if the tight-gripped twats care enough for their holy forum to actually pro-actively eliminate the spam. At the moment the limited moderators are deleting each spam-post as it arrives. As I said, backward.

Google’s tip, blatantly deceptive.

December 21, 2006 · 2 Comments

As you can see from above, the ‘tip’. Can you believe that Google would dare do such a thing? They are punting their very own service. Whenever you type the word blog into the search engine they hand over an advert disguised as a tip! A TIP! A tip to sign up with Blogger. This is obviously generating HUGE click through revenue for them and gives them an extreme advantage over other blog providers.

From Andy Beal’s blog:

I find it deceptive on their part to call this a “Tip.” This is a blatant ad which I’m sure is getting some amazing CTR due to having the only other image on the page besides the logo.

I feel this behaviour is slightly capitalistic and semi-unethical, even though Google owns the search engine as well as the blogsite, which does actually make it 100% legit. I just feel that naming it a ‘Tip’ is deceptive.

Apple’s 0 rated Customer Care.

Think Expensive

Recently, there have been numerous occasions where I have run into various difficulties with Apple products. I have sent Paul from Applecare SA an E-Mail, however, I have not heard back from him. My iPod has now broken down for the 2nd time! The 1st time it was replaced with a new (same generation) iPod photo, this was due to the warranty. This time, however, my warranty has expired. (Apparently the warranty only pertains to the purchased good, and not the replaced good. Thus, if you get a replacement 11 months after purchase, you only have 1 month warranty on the replacement. I had 2 months.)

All quotes from the E-Mail I have sent to Paul as well as Apple in the U.S.A.

Believe it or not, today, out of the blue, my 60gb iPod photo packs
up, and dies on me. Once again. I took it down to Digicape (Again)
where I was told that the Hard-Drive had packed up (AGAIN). This is
the exact same problem as last time. However, there is one minor
difference. My iPod has now fallen out of warranty (by 2 months) and
it will cost 2900-00 to get it fixed. This is preposterous! I can
actually not believe that this is happening. I wonder if every person
who buys an iPod expects it to only work for a couple of months, where
after Apple will take it in, and replace it only once. After which the
consumer will have to carry the cost of R2900-00 to get his/her iPod
working which he/she paid between R4000 & R5000 for in the 1st place.

All of a sudden, this Image makes me laugh and I understand what the designer is thinking. Anyway, so if you have been reading my blog for the past week or so, you would see that my mac is also IN for repairs. This of course, is also bothering me.

…iMac upon purchase did not work
properly. I took it back to Digicape and they obviously fixed it
without any queries or hassles. It worked for several months. However,
after several months the Hard-Drive packed up and died. I lost all my
data and as you should know, this is a catastrophe. I went out, bought
a new Hard-Drive and had it put into the machine. Then about 1 week
ago, I switched my computer off for the 1st time in approximately 2
weeks before I went to bed. The next morning I woke up, and the 1st
thing I did was to try and switch my computer on. Guess what, nothing
happened. Turns out, my Motherboard has burnt out and it will now take
3-4 weeks to get it replaced. 3-4 WEEKS!!! How am I supposed to
complete projects and do some work without my computer for 3-4
WEEKS?!?! Luckily, this falls under apples extended warranty program
and I will not be charged for it. The point is that in the past 2
years I have acquired R16000-00 worth of Apple products and on this
specific day, I HAVE NOTHING THAT HAS ANY VALUE! I have a broken iMac
and a broken iPod.

All I want from Apple is to give me a new iPod for free. I am not willing to pay R2900-00 for a new iPod just because of Apple’s incompetence. I think Apple software is awesome, I LOVE OSX, I just think that Apple’s Hardware is shite. It breaks, all the time.

I love mac OSX but it is not worth using it on the b-grade hardware
that apple supplies.

If any of you are considering switching, please consider your options again. As I said, I love Mac OSX and it is 300% better than windows. It’s just that Apple seems to put junk into the machines. I also doubt that Microsoft’s Zune will be riddled with latent defects.

UPDATE: For some reason my iPod upped and worked again tonight. I took it back to DigiCape and asked them why they had said the HDD had died… Eh, obviously they couldnt answer me. Turns out, the DigiCape diagnosis was incorrect. We’ll see how long it works for this time.
It still bothers me that the device is so unstable.

On the brighter side of life, DigiCape phoned me today to say that my iMac will be done by the 3rd of January and that they are extremely sorry for the long delay and that it was due to the festive season chaos that it is taking so long. I appreciated this, which is why I wanted to let everyone no that I was never knocking DigiCape.

Mel Gibson and Steve Hofmeyer have something in common.

December 18, 2006 · 1 Comment

I found this to be rather funny.

So it turns out that Mel also has illegitimate children. I always knew that he had to have some flaws. I mean, you have to have in order to make “Passion of the Christ”

If you read the entire account, apparently Mel picked up a 17-year old hitchiker, then persuaded her to join him in the mattress he had in the backseat of his station wagon. After a night of passionate station wagon sex, he then told her he had to get back to work at an orange juice factory and took off. No, seriously. This is what the woman who got knocked up is actually claiming. All it’s missing is the part where the UFO touches down and anally probes her pet goat. Although that might come off a little unbelievable. And we can’t have that.

Google Phone.

Apparently Google are entering the cellular telephone market. (I am starting to wonder if they are planning world dictatorship)
Together with Orange UK they are negotiating a multi-billion dollar partnership to distribute the “google phone”. The Google Phone will make it easier to search the web.

The collaboration between two of the most powerful brands in technology is seen as a potential catalyst for making internet use of mobile phones as natural as on desktop computers and laptops.

I’m thinking I want one of these, however, I also want much cheaper cellular rates to come with it.

Perhaps we will see some VOIP materialising along with it.

I got myself a new job!!
@ Clickatell.
Starting in the new year, I will be at office 08h00 – 17h00. I am filling in the Assistant Web Marketing Manager position. This came as a bit of a surprise as I was actually apllying at this eMarketing firm. Clickatell for those of you who do not know, are not an eMarketing firm, however, they have internalised their eMarketing (As many large companies should do).

Anyway, thought i’d mention it.

PS: Erol Alkan…. OH YES!!!!

My mac needs some Smack.

December 14, 2006 · 1 Comment

So apparently Mac’s arent indestructable! darnit, and I have been punting it for life and death. Anyway, it still kicks the knockers out of a wonderbra (being windows) (BAD BAD BAD metaphor)

Ok anyway, so what happened was that something meltedon the M/B and now my baby needs to get her fix. Oi, they just keep coming.

I was a bit paranoid over the fact that it’s warranty has already met it’s end, luckily though, Apple had issued an extended warranty for exactly this kind of problem! At least, unlike certain rivals  , they had admitted to the issue and are fixing all Imac’s affected (they are categorised into groups that arise from serial numbers). PHEW!
